Getting Started
Install the CAPTURES booth software on Windows, connect your camera and printer, and boot the kiosk for the first time.
System requirements
A Windows PC
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). A touchscreen in landscape orientation is recommended — the interface is designed for 1920×1080 or higher.
A supported camera
Canon DSLR / mirrorless cameras connected over USB are supported natively (e.g. EOS series), including two Canon bodies at once for dual-camera frames. A webcam also works for basic capture.
TipMounting the camera vertically? Set Global Rotate to 90° in the CAMERA tab — see the Camera & Printing chapter.
A photo printer
Any printer installed in Windows is detected automatically, and you can run a main + secondary printer pair. Dye-sublimation photo printers (4×6") are recommended for events.
Download & install
Download the installer
Get the latest Windows installer from the Download section on captures.photo. The file is named like capturesbooth-setup-3.x.x.exe.
Run the installer
Double-click the installer and follow the wizard. The app installs per-user and creates a desktop shortcut when finished.
First launch & sign in
Launch CAPTURES Booth. The first time it opens on a computer you'll be asked to sign in with your account email and password, then choose which license to activate on that machine. After that the kiosk remembers the session and refreshes it quietly in the background — no repeated sign-ins. Connect your camera via USB and power it on before launching for automatic detection.
A license is active on one computer at a time. Signing in on a new machine may use up a seat on your plan.
The kiosk screen & staff shortcuts
CAPTURES runs full-screen with no menu or address bar, so guests only ever see your branded experience. A couple of keyboard shortcuts are there for staff:
TipIf the screen ever freezes, CAPTURES detects it and refreshes itself within a second or two — usually before anyone notices.
| Key | What it does |
